FUND DRIVE REQUEST
Dear Chester Neighbors,
As our community grows, the complexity and scope of our emergency operations continue to evolve. Despite this rapid
growth and change in our community, our passion and dedication for protecting the lives, property, and environment of our
Chester neighbors and friends will always remain the same.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
The municipalities of Chester Borough and Chester Township generously support our ongoing operating expenses with your tax dollars allowing us to maintain our apparatus and purchase replacement equipment. However, additional funds are needed to maintain our facilities and purchase essential state-of-the-art equipment and supplies without increasing your tax burden. Your generosity and support play a critical role in allowing us to continue to serve the community and every dollar collected goes directly to our core mission of protecting life and property. If you would like to donate, please see the enclosed contribution card. We sincerely appreciate and thank you for your continued support!
Some STATISTICS:
31-square mile jurisdiction
According to the latest U.S. Census, over
9,400 residents call Chester home
Over 50 active members expend over 6,700 man-hours in
volunteer time annually
In 2021, the Chester Volunteer Fire Company responded to 371 emergency
calls
HOW THE FUND DRIVE BENEFITS THE COMMUNITY
Each year the Chester Volunteer Fire Company uses your donations to purchase equipment to support our operation. In 2022, we were able to purchase a high-pressure breathing air compressor that allows us to fill our self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) cylinders. In the past, we would rely on our mutual-aid partners to fill our cylinders for us taking time and valuable resources away from our town. We now have the ability to do it all in-house!
Looking ahead to 2023, with your donations we hope to purchase battery-powered extrication equipment. These tools would help eliminate the need for hydraulic cords and pumps which are used by the traditional equipment we leverage today. Battery-powered equipment will also improve the speed at which our firefighters can deploy these systems in an emergency.
FIRE PREVENTION
The Chester Volunteer Fire Company visits our local schools annually during October as part of Fire Prevention Month. Our volunteers teach students the basics of fire prevention and what to do in an emergency. Students are able to see firefighters in their full turnout gear as well as take an up-close look at the fire apparatus, tools and other equipment on the trucks. See your local school for schedule details.
